p2140 does not start up correctly
ive had my 2140 for a couple of months now. and its been working perfectly and smoothly. on saturday, my friend accidentally left my headlights on and therefore drained and killed my battery. i jumpstarted it and my car started up fine. at first my power supply wouldnt turn on. so when i went home i plugged in my laptop to my power supply and then thats when i found out the reason why was because my shutdown delay was set to like an hour. so i adjusted that back down to 4 min.
then another problem arose. once i started my car, my computer wouldnt resume from hibernation. it would start from the beginning. then, shortly after the power supply would just turn off. then i could just turn off my car and turn it back on again and it would start over again from the beginning. but this time, it would turn on fully.
i thought it might have been my battery, but i just got a new one today and its still giving me the same problems. so to sum it up again..the first time it doesnt work and shuts down, then i turn off and turn on the car again and it works just fine. and it wont resume from hibernate anymore. any help? thanks in advance!

okay..i think i may have found out the problem. my firmware is v 1.0...when before it was the 1.8.3. so i will try upgrading it again, and see if that solves my problem.

okay..so i tried upgrading it, but it doesnt work right. i am able to load the 1.8.3 hex, but when i click 'reset' it doesnt reset. it wont do the disconnect/reconnect thing. and if i were to do it manually, it would then show the old v1.0. and it shows me the USB Operation Failed. any help? now im really lost

Have you tried the carnetix forums?
I have a P1900 that gets scrambled if you let the battery die. You have to completely disconnect it from all power to get it to reset.

Yeah I think that's the same on all the Carnetix supplies. On mine if I let the battery get really low, I have to jump the battery, I then need to remove battery power (unplug the fuse at the battery) and back in. It's like a refresh or something.

no..i havnt tried that yet. but when i changed my battery i completely removed all power. so wouldnt that count as resetting it? but i guess ill try it again..and this time remove and put back in the fuse. hopefully that fixes my problematic headache

Did you successfully upgrade your firmware yet? You should make sure you're running 1.8.3 before doing any other troubleshooting.
Let me know, and if you haven't done it yet I'll help you out.
Here's a quick checklist for the firmware update:
-Make sure you've installed PSUMoni v. 1.8.3
-unplug the P2140 from the PC
-jumper the programming pins on the P2140
-Plug in the P2140 to the PC
-after you've loaded the hex file and programmed the P2140 a box will pop up asking you to press "OK"
-This is where you remove the programing jumper
-Press reset
-In your case (and mine) you'll need to manually unplug the P2140 from the PC and plug it back in
-Check your firmware in PSUMoni under the settings button

thanks, but ive tried that yesterday with no results. does it matter that im using my laptop to upgrade my firmware? i followed all those instructions, but it keeps saying USB Operation Failed, and would not show my firmware version. then when i unplugged it and plugged it back in, it shows firmware v1.0.

okay..so ive tried all the suggestions on here..removed the power supply from the battery, unplug the fuse, and followed the instructions on how to upgrade the firmware..and it still doesnt want to update. it still keeps reading v1.0. it wont let me upgrade to 1.8.3..that seems to be my problem

what do u mean? heres what i did..i took apart the psu..then i moved the jumper to the program position..then plugged in my usb cable to my laptop..then i uploaded the hex key updated to 1.8.3 and pressed okay..then i moved th e jumper back to off/regular..pressed reset..then it wouldnt read the usb cable..i unplugged it and plugged it back in..and it says v1.0..but i have psumoni v1.8.3...so i dont know whats my problem. when i first got it..i upgraded to the 1.8.3 firmware with no problems..and now it wont upgrade..this really sucks..i hate how i have to turn it on and off and back on again just to get it to work

no. i disconnect the psu from any power supply. so the only thing plugged in, or making it run is the usb. im pretty sure im doing this right, because i did this before when i first got it. its just that now it doesnt want to upgrade..this really sucks. its a pain in the butt to keep turning it off and on just to get it to turn on
