According to the customer support, the dip switches were simply purchased in bulk. They just happen to get a deal on the 4 switch part.

They only needed to use 3 of the switches.

So the 4th switch does nothing at all.

M4-ATX :: on/off line voltage is constant.

Im having the same problem with my M4, when ignition event is triggered, it turns on for 5 seconds, then turns off. Hooking a volt meter to the power button reveals it is triggering this event longer than it should be. I.E. Should flip the switch for a second or so, but instead it just stays pressed and issues a hard-off atx command to shut off the PSU. 1 minute later, when it cuts power completely, it starts back up. To test this, as soon as ignition event is triggered and pc powers on, i pull the line to the power button. It starts up like normal. as soon as i plug it back in, the pc shuts off in exactly 5 seconds --the ATX timeout to perform a hard off, rather than issue a command to shut it down. The problem here is the voltage stays constant on the on/off switch. anyone know something i dont? this is the final key to my carPC and is quite annoying.

I'm having the *identical* problem with my M4 and have been in contact with Mini-box about it. I hadn't tried pulling the power button line but I did after reading your post.

Bingo! That's the issue. When I pulled the power line after the fan started spinning, I got a full boot up.

I'll let Mini-box know and relay the details.

Minibox sent me a software app that plugs into the M4 to check the state of it and so forth. The bit that signals that the M4 should have released the power button says that it does but the multimeter reveals that it does not ever release it. Looks like a bad M4 board.

I also have a problem with the M4 PS...
I've searched in all of the topics, but didn't find the answer yet.

Background info:
I've builded my carpc temporarely into a "aluminium look" suitcase, so I can easaly disconnect a few cables and take out the pc. The power cable plug looks like this:

And with 1 twist I can cut off the V+, ignition and ground at ones.

I've bought my M4 PS about 3 weeks ago and installed it in the suitcase. Everything was working just fine. But it was running on firmware version 1.0 and I wanted to shut down the pc after 15 min in stead of 1 min or 1 hour. So I contacted Laci and he advised me to update the firmware and change the shut-down timers by USB, because of the better shut-down timers in version 1.1.
That's what I did, but there is where the trouble starts...

So now if I turn the ignition on, then the M4 powers up -> I have measured the lines and they are normal: 3.29V, 5.01V, 12.23V etc.

All the fans are running, M4 is powered and also the motherboard, but the computer won't start up?!?!

Looks like the MB missed the startpulse, but even if I make the pulse longer/shorter or later/earlier it doesn't respond

I also noticed that: If I leave the ignition on, disconnect the powerconnector for a sec and plug it back in -> then the M4 starts to blink for 3sec again (power-up delay) and then most of the times (not always) it will power up the computer totally...

I've tried many ways now to start the pc up, but I can't really find the problem...

I'm giving up

Grtz Axel

Okay, turns out my problem was some kind of software bug in the M4. Mini box sent me a new one and it works as advertised so far. I haven't checked the anti-thump though, because I don't have an amp to turn on.

This was board number 3 for me.

First board: original software turn-on bug
Second board: Apparently a software bug in new software
Third board: Works as advertised so far
