why don't you put your hamster and his little wheel in your car
as long as you feed him your car will go
and when he's tired you could use the battery and let him sleep
or use it to give him a little shock to wake him up
the choice is yours

This thread is the reason I frickin love this forum. There's the OP, who has a question he thought was a simple one: "How do I get my RC car to last longer" with a catch, alternative power sources. He's oblivious to the intentions of this forum and the consequences of those actions. Then a couple of the guys here post a few sarcastic answers laced with a little knowledge for him.
Even though the answer was given to him very numerous times, he still persists. And then the sarcasm throws him off. We here all know what is sarcasm and what is actual knowledge, and can filter it, but being 15 (knowing everything and nothing at the same time) he is not able to discern between the two, and continues.
I have to give him credit for being persistent, and taking all this abuse gracefully. That's something you just don't see anymore. And now that there's almost 100 posts on this topic is simply amazing.
I'll repeat the answer; get a battery that is 7.2V with at least 2500 mAh with the same connector as your existing wimpy 1500 mAh battery. Your local hobby store has tons of these, and they will cost way less than $100. Charge it up, plug it in the car and enjoy. While you are at it, buy two batteries, and a smart charger. While you are enjoying the extended runtime that a simple higher capacity battery provides, you can be charging the second battery. With the right equipment, by the time the first battery is drained, you can toss in the second battery.
Here's an idea that combines the theory with the practice; Go to the races that you go to, and ask the other drivers what they do to have such awesome performance. One thing I remember you saying was that you race indoors. Since there's no natural light indoors your solar panels will be useless, and you will just look goofy and be laughed at. "Nice spaceship" they'll all say, "cool calculator you got there" they will scoff. At least there will be a nice bowl of mac and cheese and an ice cold glass of cherry kool-aid waiting for you when you get home.
BTW your RC car body is made of lexan, named after lex luther, and I hear that when you apply a coat of kryptonite green paint to the car, it reacts chemically to balance the relative bouyancy to a near-neutral state, so that if you put the car on a scale, it would read exactly 2.4 grams. I haven't tried this yet, but I lost to a guy at a race last week that was painted a suspicious green. (Also where the term "green energy" comes from) He refused to have the car inspected and left in a hurry.
If you have $100, I'll be willing to provide a solution that will give you the absolute best runtime you can get from that car. I guarantee it will last at least 20 minutes at full throttle, maybe more. If you are interesed, send me a PM.

Ha! There's no way this kid is either A) 15; or B) that stupid. The only ones getting strung along on this thread are us forum members.
He totally ignores any posts with the actual advice and only answers those that send him on a wild goose chase.
Even if I am completely wrong about A and B, above, then there is no chance he would ever figure it out on his own in any case. Simply way too short of the necessary knowledge.
I'm thinking of adding a poll for which post gave the best answer. Frankly, Chairboy's answers have made me actually laugh out loud on several occasions.

This is hands down the most awesome/entertaining thing I have read in a while. It will be a sad day when this thread dies.

maybe if we could just wire some broken solar cells to this thread, and put it in a cardboard box so the solars don't get out, plant a garden (which grows yellow flowers) in it, it might just run forever.

Well, I don't own a hamster personally, well not since the 2nd grade, but then I forgot to feed them one week and the big one ate the other one's head off, but that's another topic (it really was gruesome but I'd hate to clutter this thread with such a story).
So I got some empirical data from someone who appears to have built a hamster generator from scratch. He built a generator with some magnets and a couple coils. Each coil put out about 1.2 volts, and with his highly scientific method of determining the neutral plane, it looks as if he was able to double that with a second coil. Now, there's some standarization that needs to be addressed concerning the hamster's diet and such, but taking the situation as it was, the laboratory team was able to conclude that 200mA was achievable.
So now, 2.4V and .2 A gives us .48W. and since 1Hp is about 745.7W, I'd say that one horsepower is about 1500 hamsterpowers (1553.5 if you don't like my rounding). Then there's efficiency...
So 1000 was actually kind of ballpark close eh?

The "autonator" thread came to an abrupt halt when he was sussed. I predict this one will too, and that there will be another one pop up real soon now.

Im stil quite upset that my perpetual motion power idea was glossed over so rapidly.
I will work i tell you , it will work .. the end id nigh...ohh no thats the other rant....
I wonder did nasa answer the e-mail ?
I have a tear in my eye by just having a part to play in this thread .... If it comes to an abrupt halt it will be missed.

Holy poop-stick, how did I miss this thread? Man... what happened to you guys, you used to be all about the game, the thrill of the hunt, the celebratory hot dogs at the end. The hampster forums of which we would torture together... now we've fallen far and away from one another, as to not alert each other to a new thread?
Maybe I just need to pay closer attention.
