Brushless Motor

ok i have been looking around to find out how many mA it takes to power a brushless motor.
i have an 1/18 truck and i want to put a brushless motor in it.
anyone help

(and power the car by solar panels or something else)
but my car is small!

I'm assuming you're talking about R/C cars? I think they take up quite a bit of power, plus you need the controller for the motor. I don't know the mA though. You should try looking up R/C brushless motors and seeing what typical amperages are.

amps = watts/volts. Gotta have at least 2 of those to figure out the equation.

Ausi319, I find it very unbelievable that you'd continue to post on this website when in fact you're getting zero useful information from a bunch of sarcastic computer geeks. WTF are you doing man? Perhaps now would be a good time to go find an R/C forum. Otherwise, I'm jumping into the fun too.

You'd get a lot more help on rcuniverse.com but brushless motors on 1/18th can use upwards of 25Ah burst. Don't even think about solar panels. Power it with a Li-Po pack (2S or 3S) and get a good Li-Po balance charger.

Current depends on how fast you want to go. What Kv are you putting in it and what size/type/volt battery?

which would b better a 7200kv or a 6000kv?

Well, I have 11.1V x 8000Kv so it's 88,800 RPM max (well over 60 MPH). I'd say it's too much.

7200 x 7.2 would be 51,840 RPM. You have to also consider what's legal for different racing classes.

I'm starting to read another thread. Umh, maybe you should stay away from li-pos.

k i was planning on running it with a 1500mA battery and broken solar cells scattered around the body to pick up sunlight and help recharge or if i have enough completly power it!

Uhm, yeah, good luck with that.
Unbroken ones might work better.

Something's broken...

Be careful with brushless motors in an outside environment. The reason they put the brushes in is to brush all the muck out. Running a brushless motor in a dirty environment like RC cars run in will likely end up with a broken motor.

I'm going to hell

I do hope you're joking.

Ausi, I kinda understand what you're trying to do, but I don't think a few solar cells scattered around the body of a tiny car will do much for you. I had a hard time trying to power a computer fan off of 12 4.5V solar cells I removed from those solar lights you set up outside in your yard that recharge themselves. I wired 3 in series and 4 sets of three of them in parallel so I'd get it up to about 12V and higher amperage. It still wasn't much and while it powered the fan enought to make it run, it didn't do too well on stuff that required more current. Plus you had to have it in almost full sunlight in order to make it even worthwhile.
