I am going to use 8 gauge wire for the 12v and ground. Does the ACC wire have to be 8 gauge? Has anyone built a plug like adapter to disconnect easily? Did anyone put a fuse(s) inline? What size? I see the M4 has a 25 amp on it.

what type of enclosure is anyone using? I want to install in my dell and is there an easy way to install?

Yes. Definitely put on on the constant 12v line. The debate is out whether it's needed on the ignition-controlled ACC line.


A 25A or 30A fuse WITHIN 18 INCHES OF tHE BATTERY would be sufficient.
Remember that the fuse is to protect the wiring, not hte equipment.


Do you really need an enclosure?
And you're going to have to get to fabricating. There's no easy means of installing.

I don't have a quick disconnect, but I'm sure you could use anything that would accept an 8 gauge wire.

I just connected my wiring to the terminal posts: each connection is a possible failure point and can add resistance. I'm just a nOOb at this stuff, but I've been doing cars, bikes and computers (separately!) for years.

As for cases- I did put my psu in a project case from Radio Shack. Not a major process, and it does allow me to have a dedicated fan forcing airflow over the board while reducing the chance of something shorting out.

Of course, my whole computer is in... well, more than a single case.
