M2-ATX 160W Intelligent DC-DC PSU

I plan to use this PS to power my Intel D945GCLF board.
I'm not sure if it more than I need, Becuase I won't have alot of Preps.
connected to the motherboard.
Also, My project has no ground except for the batteries.
The body is plastic.
Will this be a problem?
Thanks

I normally recommend using the chassie for a ground, however if you lack this, then my next way recommendation would be to get a 2nd battery to put near the pc, this way you can have a short enough ground. A long ground cable is NOT a good idea so try and keep it as short as possiable.

Good Luck Phil

My last car was a C5 Corvette (2001). Although I did not run a CarPC in it, I did run a custom stereo setup, complete with Sony C90 ES deck, two amplifiers, Focal kevlar components, and a 12" subwoofer. I had an amp rack that I made, in the back near the sub. I had run both a power and a ground from the battery - there was no place to pick up a good chassis ground, so this was my best solution. It worked fine, and I had absolutely no grounding issues or hums or unintentional noises to deal with.

If it's more than you need for your project, then all the better. Better to have and not need than to need and not have.

You shouldn't ground to the body, anyway. You should ground to the frame.
Even id this isn't possible for whatever reason (hi-tech carbon fiber frame, perhaps?), you can run the ground to the negative terminal of the battery.
