LCD Interference

Hi,

I am almost done with the car PC install in my 2007 Audi. It was a hard project but I am so close to the end, I can taste it :-) One last problem that I am running into is this. When I am using a power adapter to test my in-car setup plugged into regular outlet, everything works great and I get clean image on the screen. When I use my car wires that I ran, I get light horizontal lines scrolling on my screen. I have no idea what could be the problem... If I disconnect ACC power wire temporarily, the lines are still there so I know it can't be that one. Is that a bad ground? Bad main constant power? I am not sure where this picture noise could be coming from. Any advise?

Thanks

Where do you get you monitor 12volts? where is the vga cable comming from and does it pass anything that could be putting noise into it? do you get noise while the engine is off?

Thanks for the quick reply. I actually figured it out

I installed my factory HU behind the monitor (that was the easiest way to install a pc without major mods and additional components). So I removed the face plate from my HU and pushed it inside as far as it goes. That left just enough room for the LCD. So what was happening - the frame of the LCD was touching the metal on the HU creating either another ground or a short. Once I insulated the touching surfaces (it is true that duck tape fixes everything!!) interference is now gone! So all I have left is tuck all the wires in and take pictures of my finished install. Looks awesome.

Cheers.
