Inquiring Info on ITPS Power Sequencer?
I am planning on building a mini-itx carputer with a dc-dc coverter. After reading the "Mini-ITX Power Solutions Automotive Solutions" pdf. It states thea ITPS is also recommended when using in a 12v system. My question is, Is this the same as a shutdown controller? Is anyone running a itx dc-dc system, if so what else is needed besides the converter, if order for it to work in a car. Please let me know asap.
Thanks
Squeeky

I think this is a shutdown controller for the PW-60 and -70 PSs. I emailed Andrei Bulucea at ituner.com about the availability of the ITPS. He said it should be one-two months.

2 months is a long time...would anyone be interested in getting a group order of boards made for this? (just considering possibilities at this point)

Silicon, already have that started. I am talking with the company and will most likely be a "specialized" dealer. Similar to DigitalWW and DCCustoms I will offer a discount to mp3car members. Gotta keep it in the family

I would be down to go in on a shutdown controller if need be. Actually it would even be nice to add a tank circuit in there .. Just so I dont have to build one //// But I do think that this could be a good idea.

Some info
Ok, been e-mailing with iTuner. As far as the product goes, it's still in production and a time frame of 1 month. I am setup to become a specialized merchant. Most likely being sold on ebay store. As far as the product there is no price set as of yet. Their dc-dc's retail at around 55, most likely this product would be included with a dc-dc and hopefully no more the $75 retail. As far as pricing goes I should be able to save mp3car members a couple dollars off retail, I'll be honest their wholesale isn't too much of a wholesale. I will also most likely be receiving a sample product in order to write a review for mini-box and mp3car. I will let everyone know as soon as i get the product, I'll post pics and a review after I get it installed.
Thanks
Squeeky

Hmm, ok, so you will be selling ones they make. I was thinking about putting one together myself so I don't have to wait a month or two I'll have to see when I get around to it, it might be a month, but I hope not!

So what's the beef with this then? The PW-60/70 PSU's are unregulated on the 12v line. This attachment to make it usable in a car is a shutdown controller, but presumably it's still unregulated 12v.
What gives?

From the ituner website...
Quote:
This
module will be able to sense ignition and shut-off/on your PC in a
safe manner and -provide further voltage regulation.
From that, I'd guess/assume that it will regulate the 12v line
Cheers,
Nick

Their controller includes a low drop out 12v reg and a pic microcontroller to start up/shut down the pc.

Microcontroller PIC chip
If anyone wants to design a board for this, and attempt to beat ituner in making these, I have a few extra PIC chips I'd program and send out if those can help me with a sample when finished

That's what I was getting at earlier, I was wanting to make up some boards and build my own so as not to wait But I haven't had time to work on this at all yet...
