What do I need for 200 Watts

Hi all,

Been reading for the past few weeks and decided to start a project.

I have built a computer that has a 200 Watt power supply. The computer will run 2Ghz Pentium chip. I was contemplating putting a mobile printer in the trunk as well so maybe there would be 2 devises although I would only occassionally use the printer.

What kind of converter do I need to power the computer (and possibly another devise) in my car?

What difficulty could I run into and what are ways to avoid them so I don't curse?

A store clerk told me to by a 500 watt converter. Just wanted to make sure of this is the right direction.

Depending on the type of printer, I think a 300W inverter would do fine.

With that 2MHz Pentium X, you should be able to get away with less. My 400MHz PentiumII uses a 90w

When I said What kind of inverter I don't know anything about them.

Is there a brand that I can go too that is awesome (price is not a concern here) I hear about this OpusSolutions but they have no website everytime I click the links.

Do I need DC/DC or am I just not getting it?

You need a DC to AC power inverter. The brand shouldn't matter. I have a 600watt peak, 300watt continuous inverter that runs great for my P4 1.4ghrtz computer. I got it thru radio shack for like 150 bucks, from their website.
You should definitely run at least 8 gauge red power wire to your battery, not your cigarette lighter.

you can do DC to DC. it is more complicated though.
