prob with mucha shutdown controller

Hi all

i got a Jeff Mucha shutdown controller but i am having a problem with it and Jeff isnt answering my emails...

I turn on the ignition and the pc starts ( all good so far) but then it turns off, or rather the shutdown controller turns it off.
On the controller you can adjust the length of time b4 the pc shuts down after cutting power on the ignition. So if this is set to its maximum, the pc turns on then waits for a few minutes then shuts down. Set to its minimum, the pc turns off after a few seconds.

Any ideas anyone? Voltage problem sopmewhere? I am NOT turning the car engine on, just the ignition.

On a second issue, i get the usual problem of the pc turning off when i crank the engine...whats the latest solution to that problem?

I know this is jeff's area .. but as i have the same thing maybe i can help..

Sounds like you have not connected the acc line !

you should have 2 ignition wires under the wheel. one stays on while cranking the engine. use that one

Will it start up after the engine starts?

Maybe the voltage drop in the circuit when the starter is being cranked isn't supplying enough juice to the controller, and telling it to shut down. (??)
Sound right? I know I have this problem with my invertor when I run stereos out of my car (dumb I know, but it sounds cool).

I am having a similar problem with my shutdown controller from Mucha. It shutsdown the computer a minute or two after it starts, sometimes sooner. If I disconnect the motherboard ATX power switch wire, then the system simply reboots without any shutdown. The shutdown controller seems to click off it's V-out terminal then immediately back on to cause this reboot. The undesired ATX pulse and the V-out bump are definately related, but don't seem to occur together. I'm giving up on this shutdown contoller since it is incomplete anyway (I had to design a separate circuit to start the computer since my EPIA doesn't support auto booting after power loss correctly.) All my wiring is correct.

I've ordered an ITPS to use as only a SDC, bypassing the regulation. This unit seems more complete anyway, since it also sends a pulse to start the computer, and still has the power cut-off that i like about the Mucha unit.

That's why I stopped selling the old one. I fixed all those problems with the new one and added so many more features. check out the mp3car store.
