car adapter from idot.com

http://www.idotpc.com/TheStore/Deskt...t.status=green

does look like it will work. . ..i already have a shutdown controller that i made and i had an itps on order but this looks like it may be a better solution....

im using:

m10000 nehemiah
256 pc 2100 crucial ddr
seagate baracudda IV 7200
liteon 8x slim dvd
morex 55w psu in 2699r case

it has been powering up fine with the included ac adapter but i figure i get this i could take out the inveter from my setup

i just called their tech support and for what its worth they told me that all that their 12v version does is regulate the output of the car......makes sesnse and it says that the input voltage is 10.5 to 15.5 dc

I've been using that car adapter for a few months now. Works pretty well. I haven't had any problems with it so far.

I am interested in this adaptor too.. any other comments on it would be appreciated, especially traitorhound's question about crank issues.

I haven't had any problems with the adapter causing audio noise.

As far as crank issues go....I don't think I've ever actually had the computer running while trying to start the car. If you guys want, I can give it a try a couple time and let you know what happens. Just let me know.

that would be great if you could try it out for us. I am considering purchasing one of these if it survives the crank test.

Thanks

That's cool. Give me a few hours. I'll post as soon as I find anything out.

OK...I've started the car with the PC already running 3 times today. My screen blinks out (cuz it's an in-dash screen that pops outta my HU, power is cut to the HU when the key is turned) but the PC keeps running. No restart when the engine is cranking.

just ordered mine too, I'm guessing late this week, or early next week.

I'll let everyone know how it works.

Be thankful man, that way you don't have to pay the tax, cuz most of the time online stores have fixed shipping rate.

Btw, how do you make that one work with m10000? Another adaptor to use? I can see how that fits a notebook, but a m10000? yeah, the question might be a little stupid...

yeah, I saw the power options, what about connectivity issues? Use it with a power supply that takes 12V DC with that kind of plug?
