Lightbulb Possible Cranking Issue Solution - LM3478/LM3488

I just came around this IC at National's site LM3478/LM3488
According to the datasheet it should solve all the problems around cranking.
Please correct me if I'm wrong

it only outputs 1A. The pt5071 is a better sollution with a output of 1,5A

And the max1771 + extra mosfet gives 2A (like the sproggy MK3)

hmm sorry, my bad.

In the datasheet:
first schema gives an output of 2A, but on a set-up way (and you need a setp-up step-down)

and figure 12 is a step up and down

So, you could use it, but it isn't the most easy way. Easiest way: pt5071, but quite expensive: around the $21. Request samples: free, and you will get them, I got 2 of them, tomorrow will number 3 arrive
