This guy uses a BASIC Stamp to control when his PC boots and shuts down. Its a great idea that could replace the power button in your setup.

BASIC stamp is overkill for a shutdown controller, its cheaper to use PIC microcontroller. A PIC 12C508 can do the same thing for like $1-2.

I agree, a pic would be the way to go, but Paralax won't put that on thier site!

It just got me thinking.

I guess they are just trying to sell thier products. But for something like $30 + developments tools I dont know how much it will cost you to get a single protoype working

I havnt used one but I think they are cool stuff though
