Can the PW-70A support this setup?

Hello All,

Well here is an update in my project so far I have completed my custom
clear case and have my VIA M10000 installed with a Dlink wireless PCI card
and a western digital IDE standard drive and 256 PC2100 DDR. Can this power supply support the gear above I'll also add an ITPS for regulation.

the PW-70a will just fine ...

the ITPS is where you need to be careful. it maxes at 60W (5 amps) ...

i can't count how many times this same question has been asked with the same setup and the same PS/ITPS (public school education here)... do some reading in the power supply forum.

Hey Shakes,

Yeah I did some searching and it was still unclear to me. I see so the weak link to this setup is the ITPS. I like the setup because of the size and the lower heat output also it is slightly cheaper than the opus. I have one other question. I see allot of folks go the inverter route the main disadvantage I see is size and heat other than that issue will this setup degrade the battery faster than the PW-70a with ITPS?

Thanks for your time

inverters are clunky ... give off more heat ... and very inefficient. they also are likely to give you dirty power unless you get a relly good one ... and then you're spending $100+ anyway.

beside ... inverters convert DC to AC ... then your PC will turn right around and go back from AC to DC. so why mess with all the conversion?

the opus is a better solution than the ITPS/PW-70a ... but more expensive.

if you go the ITPS/PW-70a route you should seriously consider using a laptop hard drive. you'll run into other issues with a desktop hard drive like not being able to power the PC with the car off.
