Question Dc-dc Ups

Have just purchased a UPS for my pc, as we have had a few problems with the power over the last few days, keep coming home and all the clocks need resetting and pc has crashed.

I bought this one http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/st...roductId=94402

When I was reading the manual it mentioned changing the battery. Opening it up it is a 12v SLA!!

I was thinking that there must be a no money no object 12vDC UPS out there I have found nothing yet,

I tried it with my inverter but kept bleeping at me and switched over to bat mode, obviously not enough power in the inverter.

Maybe one of these could be converted or something, what do people think.

New Site with DC to DC UPS

Have just been give this http://www.sto-p.com/pfp/index.html to look at looks just like what I am wanting to go before my opus, what do you think.

Solves the cranking, charging and running the carputer with engine off

What do you think, is a bit expensive, but is it worth it?

You don't need a seperate battery before an Opus. The Opus will survive a crank all by itself.

If you want a seperate battery so you don't drain your main one quite so much (even though the Opus has low-voltage protection) then do a search here for "tank circuit"

There's really no need for all these other things when you've got an Opus!

Welcome to the forums, by the way Always good to have another UKer!

i have just finished building my sproggy (a variant from mastero) have connected to car battery (the battery is smaller than standard) played around with mp3/video clips while the engine is off for about 45 mins. dc-dc psu is the way to go, i used to have an ac inverter and it does keep on bleeping on me that was even back when i have a 3.8 liter car with big batt.
