PW-70a alternatives...

Hi all!
Are there PW-70a alternatives out there?
I mean, better and/or cheaper solutions... especially cheaper...
my project is to use my carpc also as a htpc, so it has to be removable.
So I want to put a pw-70a or something similar into the pc, then attach an ac/dc converter for home use and a dc-dc for car use...
any link/idea/sugestion is welcome....

thanks in advance!
bye

The best alternative is the Opus for car use.

However that won't be brilliant for indoor use, unless you have a good quality 120/240-12V transformer. That also goes against your "cheaper" recommendation.

the pw-70a is probably most conveinient for what you're doing. Run wires from your battery to your regulator (ITPS i would assume) and run wires to a DC Plug, like this (i don't know if that's the right size, but it's a pic) and then plug it into your pw70a. That way, you just uplug the DC jack, bring it inside, and plug it into this. (there are cheaper places to get something like that, like www.idotpc.com or something).

Edit: That is probably the cheapest option for a DC-DC power solution, coming in at around $110. (ITPS, PW-7a, and wall adaptor)

Or you could go the inverter route, and probably spend $30 on an inverter, and $30 on a standard PSU. From a technical aspect, that's more ineffiecient than using a DC-DC PSU. But people who use inverters around here swear by them. So that's $60, but it's a lot more clunky than using the PW-70a and a Regulator which means the case is bigger, making it harder to move around as you wish to do.

thanks, It's the same idea I had, I would like to know if there is a product similar and cheaper than pw70a. Morex dc-dc converter should be a choice...
I forgot, I'm Italian...In italy there's only one pw70 and morex reseller, but prices are prohibitive....
thanks a lot!

I excluded inverter for those reason: space and efficency.
I think I'll search for the best offer between morex and pw70a...
Or mybe I've to change my question to: is tere any other compact dc-to-atx converter that fits in a small case (maybe a din-sized case)???
