DC-DC in Norway?

Hello!

Where do you norwegians on this board buy your DC-DC psu's? I have searched high and low, and the only thing i can come up with is komplett.no (morex) and icd.se (pw70a).. Both of these needs clean 12V (I'm using 3.5" hd).. Any suggestions on where to get a real 12V psu (with regulator), or just a regulator? Anyone wanna build one for me?

Hi Torbjørn,

It's a bit funny because one of the well known DC-DC pioneers are located in norway. The company is called MASCOT and they build high quality DC-DC converters. I bought their MASCOT 9260 with regulated 13.8V output @ 5.8A, but it has a potmeter that can be adjusted down to 12V output. The input voltage range is 10.5 to 32V and that means that it not boot during cracking. My design uses the 55W molex PSU boards that requires 12V +/- 5% and the Epia M1000 mainboard.

By the way I payed around 1700 Dkr in Denmark, but I believe you can get it cheaper in norway because you do not have to pay duty.

Their webside is www.mascot.no and I believe you can buy directly.

Yes, but i guess it's not that much under 1700 Dkr.. Hmmm.. Any other cheaper suggestions?

No duties in norway?? you gotta be kidding!

I remeber looking at some dc-dc solutions at www.elfa.se, but couldn't find anything affordable. Now I am waiting for a 150w opus from the group buy at this forum. At more than 1000kr for a decent 12V stabilizer and 500kr for the morex, I think the opus at 1500kr is a better solution.
I also looked at building the sproggy psu, but that too turned out quite expensive. (and with great risk of blue smoke and grey hair...)

Anyway, I got the Morex now.. Then i bought a PW-70A from icd.se (thought it could handle a 12V unreg. input.. I don't know what I'll do now.. Probably run with the pw-70A, and 230V>12V brick psu, then an inverter.. Atleast untill i find a decent 12V stabilizer.. All the good adapters are overseas, plus RadioShack won't ship to Norway..

Any suggestions? 1500kr for an opus? incl. taxes?

Regulator as in ITPS? When i ordered the psu i thought it could take in unregulated power.. Then i started reading about it in these forums, and discovered that with the ITPS (which it needs for regulation), it's going to need MUCH power.. System cannot be used when engine isn't running..

Yeah, and it's cool.. But, I want to use my system when the engine isn't running, which i obviously (?) can't do with an itps..?

Well.. ATM I'm using a morex psu with an inverter.. Using a backup battery (110A), i can leave my system on for many hours without starting the engine.. So it is possible

You may be in luck, Torbjørn. I've spent months using contacts in the far east to find a manufacturer of 12v-12v DC regulators. I've finally got them in stock!
Click here for more information. Essentially though, 11-16v in, 12v out 60 watts. I've tested it with a Cubid 2699 and Travla C134 and it works just fine. Special price to MP3car members of £24.99.
