from 10/15V to 12V5A...
Hi all!
It's hard to find a dc-dc converter that converts a Vin that goes beetween 10V and 15V to a Vout=12V/5A....
I would like to know if there is an easy and cheap way for building such a converter.
bye!

No Need! I've got them! Exactly as you describe 11-16v in and 12v/5A output. They've got a cigarette lighter plug on one end and a 2.5mm plug on the other so they fit the Cubid 2699R and the Travla C134 cases. Have a look here at Action Replay. £10 off for mp3car members.

I thought you were gonna let me know when they came in
So how do I go about buying one since selecting it on there gives me the std price?

Hi Skassama,
£7.50. Total for sending one to USA is £24.99+£7.50=£32.49.

11V is ttto much... I need 10-15v for cranking survival, as my battery goes low to 10.5V and rise up to 14.5V.

I've just tested it in my Subaru and my Fiat and it survived cranking in both of them. Can't guarantee it though! Tolerances on these are +-5%. 11volts -5% is 10.45v.

I've ordered one of these yesterday, can't wait to see how it goes along with my morex psu and my pw-70a.... NO ITPS.. Plan to use auto-power-up (in bios), and tricking xp into thinking that a UPS is connected (for shutdown purpose, discussed on the forum, )

What do you think about using this PW80
With the 12v DC-DC Regulated Power Adapter
on a MII motherboard in a car ?

Should be smooth.. Without a backup-battery (tank-circuit), it wouldn't survive cranking.. with backup, it will.. Btw, no intention of answering a question dedicated to another member..

Doesn't that do the voltage regulation? Or doesn't it filter? If it does why would you need our regulator?
The main reason I went with an external 12Vdc-12Vdc is so I didn't need to start modifying cases. I've still got the 240V-12V mains adapter so if I ever need to take a car computer out of the vehicle I can just plug it back in the mains again. It's not a perfect solution but it's the cheapest regulator I've found.
I've found a battery that might just prove to be the ideal tank battery as well. If it works then I think I've got exactly what I and a lot of other people are looking for.
Regards
Doug

What's the difference between the PW-70 and PW-80? Seem's like the same design to me.

PW-70 needs 12v in
PW-80 has a 11-30v input so yes it does regulate the input.
Anyhow, I've order one of Falken's 12vDC-DC supplies so hopefully he's processing the order

But it supposedly doesn’t filter the power. Whatever that means? Anyone care to explain hehe?
I going to call Ituner and tell them to stick their ITPS up their ***, I have been waiting for their car kit for ages now and I don’t want to wait anymore.
