What do you think about this battery circuit?

Searching the web for a solution for my carputer's power supply, I've found this external-battery based circuit. It seems to be very simple, but I don't know too much about this... what do you think? Will it work? I'm planning on use Epia M-II with CF or maybe DOM and external usb/firewire HD. Thanks!!

I cant belive they are selling that with 1N4001 diode.

Take a look at this :

Even if you did use the most suitable diode the ITPS still cannot work properly due to its input voltage requirement being 13.3V or so. Adding a diode and dropping the voltage by another 0.3 - 1V just make everything even worst.

Theres tons of thread regarding the ITPS.
