BLEW two ATX PSU's with inverter?? HELP!

hey everyone,

i just went out and bought a coleman inverter that supplies 400W max and i hooked up my carputer to start testing everything out. but once i plug it in, nothing turns on, and I try and use it with the in wall connections in the house and it still doesnt work. So I grab a spare PSU and plug it into the wall socket and it works fine. I put it back to the inverter and nothing. Try the same PSU in the house and it no longer turns on...

HELP!!!

does anything else work off the inverter? a lamp? is the output of the inverter the correct voltage?

i plugged in a dremel and a heat gun to test it...the dremel kinda fluctuates but it works fine. same with the heatgun. tons of noise in the car though...
