If you guys are struggling to get the 4.0 to work and changing from National chips to Max chips, why not go with the 4.5 design?
It's very much the same with the addition of 1 more 3.3 and 12V sections.

I have the custom 4.0 design, if you guys want, I send the PDF so you can edge your own PCB.
What does it has?
1 section of 3.3V (Max chip) base on 3.0 design.
2 sections of 5.0V (Max chip) base on 3.0 design
2 section of +12V (National chip) base on 4.0 design (similar to 4.5 design and I only use one section because the main relay can't support the current draw)
Negative voltage (-5, -12) are base on 4.0 design.
On board SDC, Low voltage shutdown, and temperature control fan base on msCar fan control circuit.
The design is powering my A7N8X-VM/400 mobo with Athlon XP2500 Mobile (running at 1.7GHz), Maddog 16X DVD ROM, 120G 7200RPM Seagate HD, Lilli LCD, and several USB devices (mouse, KB, GPS, WiFi, Card Reader, ...)

We actually paid mastero €140,- For a full kit, I'd rather have the national version working..

About etching a PCB.. I dont have the equipment and I dont have someone who can manufacture one for me..

For the pinout of the MAX 787 You really have to considder changing the PCB

Look at the example I've made in photoshop

I just tested my mk4

And i'm sad to say that i have the same problem

here are my readings:
Engine off, motherboard not connected:
3.3v is 3.311v
5v is 5.00v
12v is 11.89v
12v mobo is 12.41v
-5v is -4.97v
-12v is -12.37v

Engine on, motherboard not connected:
3.3v is 3.31v
5v is 5.00v
12v is 11.89v
12v mobo is 11.74v (drop of 0.94v)
-5v is -5.03v
-12v is -13.72v (1.35v up)

Engine on, motherboard connected (and running):
3.3v is 3.15v
5v is 3.258v
12v is 11.95v
12v mobo is 11.68v

All fans are turning but the HD doesn't seem to start

(J3 was short)

My setup:
Via epia M10000
20gb 3.5" hd
256mb ram
lilliput screen (connect @ psu)

Everything works fine when the engine is not running

Hope this helps a bit to fix the problem

indeed, i hope its just that, don't want to change the pcb for the maxim chips and the PSU works fine for others with national chips

we (me, xayver and maddog) bought the psu together so it could be it.

I would like to report a perfect working MK4 with max787 chip and no boost line

(with boostline i got a stable 6V so i disconnected it)

5V stays stable at around 4.93V (full load of pc and a input of 11V)

will post incar result tomorrow after i bought some resistors to get the boostline correct (had 2K and i need 2.7K)

note : do not use my schematic, it is faulty use the one of xavyer instead (mine is in mirror, only works if u put the chip under the pcb
