can you turn on/off atx with a SPST switch?

I'm not connecting my pc to the ignition, and want to use a switch in the dash for on/off.
I know that ATX supply normally uses a pulse to turn the mobo on and off - but is there a way of just using a rocker switch to do this?

cheers

Yes. Not A Rocker Switch But A Push To Make Switch.

Just an idea that you might try, see this schematic.

The two switches should actually be the SPDT switch, but this is the only switch symbol I have

Oops sorry, SPST is one contact only ... Then it's not possible I'm affraid (with simple electronics)...

if you really wanted to use a rocker switch it would work, you would just have to rock it on, then off again, and the computer will turn on...

then to turn it off, rock it on, then off again, and the computer will shutdown or hibernate..

He's just explaining how to use an on/off rocker as a momentary pushbutton, which is what you need. He doesn't mean up/down style of switch.
There are several off/mom. on styles of rockers. I think it would be coolest to use those neat aluminum engine start buttons that were posted a while ago. Get one made with the universal Computer-Power type button.

Anyhoo, whatever works for you.

Pc Case with no switches

I am working on a custom PC case but am wondering what to do to replace the SPST RESET and POWER switches. Anyone have suggestions for this ??
Are there any Chinese manufacturers that only manufacture the spst switches and the motherboard female connectors ?
Cheers!
