new 200 watt PW200M DC DC converter?

Was just looking around on ebay and stumbled upon this

Is it legit? If so, would it be better to get this then say the 150w psu?

(if you plan to run a lot of usb devices, etc?)

firstly, usually a 90W or even 70W will usually suffice when using mini-itx which consume very little power. Unless you have a number of full size HD's or CD drives.

Secondly i think that product has been discussed before, i think the general opinion was that it is a bit iffy. 200W produces quite a bit of heat and that PSU doesnt have a heatsink let alone a fan. The fact that its supplied with only one molex connector probably means its designed for only one device.

Just my opinion.

I was planning on buying the Opus 90W DC-DC PSU, I just noticed this on ebay and was curious about it..

well .. it sure is much cheaper ........

it wont take much to put some heatsinks on it .. and a fan ... (fans barely consume any power) ....heatsinks you can get online or local elctronic store or computer store...

Im seriously thinking about buyging this ... under 100 is pretty good

I want to run a 3gighz prescott p4 .. a reputable geforce (5700 or so)..... and a 7200 rpm drive (prolly sata) ... and 70watt maybe cutting it too close (or more likely too little ... i would imagine the p4 only consuming like 60watts ... heard that somewhere ...)

I may be wrong ..... so....

hehe 3ghz would probably consume 70W itself.

exactly .... so .. either run a normal psu with inverter ..or run a kickass psu dc-dc .... heard the arise ones are pretty good .... about 130 watts whatnot .. for like $79 .. im gonna go with thatone ...

i mean ... the p4 costs like around $200 ..(a bit more maybe) .... i dont want to spend as much as i spend on a processor ... on a psu ....

the way I see it .....if im gonna spend $1000 ..on this .. then ill just buy a laptop with fairly good specs ... and i wont have to worry about anything ... and it could go into standby for DAYS ..... no sweat ...

i went the laptop way, not really ideal unless your going to leave it in the car permanently, pretty tricky to have the right setup for both in car and normal use. i'm now using a 150W invertor with a 140W AC PSU, works like a charm now that ive strapped a fan to the invertor.

I'd run a moble P3 tualitin before I ran a P4. The centrino is based on the tualitin. Has anyone used one of these 200 watt supplies?

I use this. No shutdown controller, and on my car it wont survive a crank (but I have one of those Honda-sized Optima Yellow top batteries). Definetly a good solution if you need a lot of power.

yea, i've seen that, but i'm lazy and want the shutdown controller, also the tank circuit is good too. I figure the 90w opus has those things, and the one from ebay can power the rest of the fans i'm having to run. Is there a thread on combining mulitple power supplies? Don't tell me to search, (i'm lazy).
