Turns out my ISP has blocked all .tk due to the RIAA and Spam complaints.
I hope he is well after the disaster.
I would still like to buy a machine from him.

some more questions

1. i'm assuming the led next to the standby is the standby indicator :P, what is the other led (next to the 47uh inductor)?

2. atx-1 plugs into the motherboard's power pins?

3. where are the 5v, 3.3v, 5v standby, -5v, -12v outputs?
edit: found the -5, -12, is the 5v standby the one just labelled "STBY"?

4. where does the "power on/good" signals come from?
edit: are they "PG" and "PS_ON"?

5. where does vcc come from?

thanks a lot

You are correct on the first one. The one next to the inductor is the power on indicator (PSU full on).

2. atx-1 plugs into the motherboard's power pins?

Plug ATX-1 into the mobo power switch. Then the header from the power button switch plug to ATX-2. Basically you are rerouting the power button switch.

3.3V is below MAX788 chips (3 holes), and 5V is below MAX787 (9 or 10 holes)
5V standby is label with STBY.

4. where does the "power on/good" signals come from?
edit: are they "PG" and "PS_ON"?

Power Good (Gray) = PG - below CMOS 4049 chip
Power ON (Green) = PS_ON - Between 12V relay and Sproggy relay.

What is Vcc? If you are talking about power in put, +12V In = Battery Red.
If you talking about ACC. That is going to the car keyswitch (Only on/hot when the key is insert and turn.). Cig lighter is one of them.

i was following the atx diagram from mastero's diy page, here:
http://www.roshanindustries.com/mp3p...ges/atxpin.jpg

thanks again mate

edit: btw, would you know if the max787 and national lm2678t-5.0 are comparible? (i.e. could i use the national chip instead, i can't get my hands on the max787s)

Vcc on that diagram is the 5V (Orange).
If you want to build one base on National LM3678 chip, look for Mastero/Sproggy 4.0 thread. Some people report problem with those chips. That is why later Mastero change the board to use Max chip and called it 4.1 (I think). They are similar but not an identical replacement (7pins V 5 pins).

Mine only output 4.98V under no load and engine off.
What is the reading for each chip?
Make sure the Max chips, Diode, and HS are all issolated.

the output of the max787s are 8v for both
although they are connected so...

also i'm pretty sure they're isolated

btw, why do they have to be isolated if they share the same ground anyway?

edit: all good now, there was a tiny short between the in/out of one of the 787s

my power supply decided not to work today...
i connect it up and nothing happens, so i'm expecting a broken relay
would it be the small 12v one?

none of the voltages are working, cos there is no relay "click" when i conect power which is why i think the relay is gone

although ps-on is at 0.23V
