Pc wont boot with new pw-70a, Any ideas?

lo guys, here a quick question i hope sum1 will be able to answer:

ive got a micro atx motherboard with a pw-70a dc-dc psu, however when i hit the power button it wont fire up, any ideas?

id imagine its some compatability problem.

its the only thing i need to get my carpc up and running

its got a AMD 2200Pro processor also has everything else on board aswell, sound,vga network etc.

wont boot even without the hd installed

According to this

if the CPU is Athlon XP 2200+ it needs around 65 Watts alone.
If it is the Duron (this must be the case) 2200+ it needs 53 Watts.

Either way you need a bigger PSU.

Got a multimeter? Short PS-On to ground (and leave it shorted), and apply 12V to the PW70a. Then use a multimeter and measure the voltages across the ATX and molex headers. If there aren't appropriate voltages across the ATX and molex pins, return it for warranty. If there are, try a lower powered computer.

Chris, you got no chance with that, you need an OPUS or something similar.

I have a PW120A which is supposed to be able to supply 120W uncooled and upto 200W blown, do you fancy it?

Sorry, that probably won't work either. 144 Watts of the claimed 200 that thing can supply is actually just passed-through and unregulated current on the 12 Volt rail. That only leaves 56 Watts for the +5, +3.3 and 5VSB rails combined.

ive ran the motherboard on its own and it still wont fire up, thought i would have got a light or fan blade movin atleast.

i tried this micro-atx for a cheap option. i might try and sell it now then and try to buy a itx system, just case and motherboard, shame really cos case etc wasnt cheap..will have another play and let u know whats happening

hook the motherboard up to a standard PSU and try it from AC.
