Question is it possible to turn on a laptop without pressing the power button?

i want to temporarily use my sony laptop until i build a dedicated carpc, and its power button is where the keyboard is (not accessible with the laptop closed). How can i make it turn on when the power is applied through the DC-IN (when i start the car/ turn on the inverter) ?? is it possible? i really dont want to have to open my trunk every time to start the laptop.

is there any kind of software that can be installed or some settings changed? turning off is a non issue..

TIA,

Lev

In the BIOS setup: "restart after power loss"
or something like that

Have a search for wake on ring on the serial port. Some PCs have settings in the BIOS to wake on modem ring. Thus a pulse on one of the serial port pins should wake the PC.
