Power Issue?
Hey, I got an OPUS 150w power supply powering the following:
micro-atx mobo - onboard sound
1.2 ghz processor (or a speed close to it, I got it for free and cant remember what it posts at)
Wireless 8211 PCI card
1 4gig HD
1 120gig HD
8.4 Inch lcd screen (12 volt)
Slim Slot Load DVD (THE PROBLEM)
Now my system works fine when I dont have the power hooked up to the DVD rom, but when I plug it in is when problems start happening. When I first plug in the DVD rom my computer will post and detect the drive and everything else and boot fine. However, as soon as I restart or go into standby it wont ever boot again unless I unhook the power from the DVD drive. I cant explain it, I think it is a power issue but if it was why would it work the first time I try to boot after plugging it in and not any other time? Also I have tried this more then once and on every occasion the same thing.
Any ideas?

You are running a lot of stuff off your power supply and you might be close to maxing it out. That motherboard and processor are very power hungry. Try disconnecting one of the other hard drives and then connecting the DVD drive.

I agree, dump the 4GB drive and if that isn't a mobile processor I'd underclock it a little and undervolt it if possible.

Yeah I also forgot to mention that this all used to work on my old mobo and processor 533 celeron, but then 1 day after pulling out the carpc to do some work on it in the house it did the same thing it is doing now. Even though it worked fine before I pulled it out to work on it. I think it is something with my dvd drive I dunno, I am gonna try another cdrom drive in there and also if I get unlazy(is this a word? ) I am gonna bring my dvd drive in the house and mess with it.

You could take the screen off the Opus and hardwire it with or without a relay. That would probably put you in the clear without losing any performance or disk space.

if you have trouble powering the usb devices, there are things you can place in your cigarette lighter socket to power usb devices, to reduce the strain on your PSU

IDE, yeah I looked for a circuit that would make a nice clean pwr source for my 12volt and maybe even my 5volt stuff so then only my hds/mobo/processor would runn off of the opus. I dunno please help me. I am looking for a pcb layout of a psu that was just to support a constant 12v and 5v dv current from my car that didnt relay off of my opus. Sry if this dont make sense but drunk

That is exactly what I was thinking about doing, making a 12v and 5v regulated power supply just for my extra devices. I looked online for one but I guess I didnt look hard enough
