Opus power supplies ---> for AMD mobile???
Hi all,
I'm a new member
I'm trying to build a carputer using a microATX MB with
a XP barton 2600+ mobile CPU. This system can be
downclocked or overclocked it's depend on the power
I have.
But, The major problem I have is the power supply
I found one power supply with 400 watt but it's cost 300€/280$
so I'm looking for the opus solutions. My question is, can I use one opus
power supply for an AMD CPU working at 25 watts at downclocked
frequency and 50 watt at overclocked frequency?
I see the Ampere of the power supplies and does not appear suitable!
Please give me an indication/suggestions

According to the Opus website the Opus 150 has 5a continuous on the +12v line...that's 60w. Does it use the 5v or 12v line?

I am using a XP 2600 but I had to underclock it because my motherboard doesn't have a place to plug in the 12v line.

Hi Brady
what mean "does not have a place to plug"????
I will use the soltek 75MIV2, so do you believe it's possiple to use the 150W
with XP 2600 + mobile at normal frequency?

I've used an Opus 150W with an Athlon-M 2600+ without difficulty.

I dont think that is true, my xp mobile cpu uses the 12v of my psu (of my normal computer).
3.3v is not being used for cpu's, some motherboards use the 5v, some the 12v, the 3.3v isn't powerfull enough for cpu's like amd mobiles.
For the opus a simpele solution:
underclock it. Normally the 2600+ works on 1.933ghz with 1.45v. Lower the mulitplier and the voltage. Maybe 1.0ghz with 1.2v works stable, and if so: that wouldn't use much ampère (and watts)
If 1.0ghz would not be enough, then raise the multiplier, and the voltage a bit.

I looked up your motherboard specs and it looks like it has a 12v input. You should be able to run your CPU at full speed with the Opus.

I dont see a problem all except the ATI Radeon 9600. Do you know how
much
power does the ATI consume on +5V and or +3.3V ?
Kris
i gave him the specs and thats what he told me. i have still waiting on my agp card, but when that gets here i will find out if it works i end up using a different one. seeing that the ati car was a +5v and did not want to run the rist of not having enough power. hth

Update us on the ATI 9600. I am planning to run the AIW 9600XT and wonder if OPUS can power it.

12v: 0.4A
Total: 8.69W
stressed:
3.3v: 2.92A
5v: 0.46A
12v: 0.57A
Total: 18.38W
9600XT:
Idle:
3.3v: 0.74A
5v: 0.47A
12v: 0.35A
Total: 9.07W
stressed:
3.3v: 3.2A
5v: 0.99A
12v: 0.63A
Total:22.72W
