powering usb hub

I have a 7-port externally powered hub and want to power it from my car (not from the computer). I can't seen to find a simple 12v to 5v adapter - any ideas ?

Thanks

take a 5v line from your PSU silly! THat is unless you have a laptop, or your hub takes more 5v.

Any ideas? Im using a laptop and have a 4 ports hub, but all my devices are messing around when all 4 are in use so i think need to external power the hub. I need to have a sigaretlighter 12v to 5v with 2amps. I searched around but could find a good solution.

This only seems to power a usb device, not a hub. So you can charge batteries of usb devices.

Right, but if it's a stable 5v output what's to stop you from chopping it up, and splicing it to a power plug?

You're right. I just ordered an Asus MyPal car adapter for A620. It has 5V A2 output, so it must be good to, only 15 euro.

Oh well. It's only *another* $15 expenditure..

Why would that help if the issue is not enough power from the USB ports on his laptop to power 4 USB devices?

Sorry, two questions in one thread.

I take it you were replying to the first one!
