Hi,

I have my carPC working fine with a Opus 90w. I would however like to be able to use the carPC in the house or hotel as a HTPC platform as well.

What I would like to confirm is can I use both a Morex 60w PSU (w/ standard AC-DC converter attached) and the Opus 90w 12v DC power supply together?

My plan is to:

1. Add both PSU's to my custom enclosure
2. Take the output going to the mobo from each PSU and combine them
3. Send the combined line to the mobo

The system would never have input from both the Opus and the Morex at the same time. It will always be 1 or the other. Opus power in car, morex power in house.

Do you think the above will work or will I have a fried via epia

I'm not sure thats a good idea.
It really depends on what the output circuit of each PSU looks like.

At the very least I would say fit series diodes, but i would be very careful if you try this. Use a dummy load first, instead of your mobo.

Since I am taking the final output (right before it connects to the mobo) wouldn't they outputs be = (same as standard ATX input to the mobo)?

I would love to simply get 2 atx extensions (1per PSU)
Remove the ends that connect to the mobo
Match all wires from both cut atx extensions and connect them 1 end that will be plugged into the mobo.

Why not just use an AC/DC converter to power the Opus?

As simple an solution that is, it never even crossed my mind. Completed it last night working well.

Upgrading HDD tonight.
