Question Started Carputer, having Opus problems?

Hello,

First off, i have always wanted something in my car that a few people had or did. I have a 1997 Toyota Camry LE, and ive had previous sound systems before, ranging from beginning to my last setup that hit 110dB with one 12' sub. I also like doing things myself, and this was the hardest project yet. Ive read here a few months before i started this project, and then i begun. I bought a M10000, Opus 150Watt, 256 MB of Ram, 160Gig Hard drive, 2 usb controllers for emulators, GPS software, Lilliput 7' for front and a 8' tv for back for players to play games. I configured the M10000 along with a friend and had the computer running in my house. Now after about 3 days of working on my car after work and school, I was getting ready to test it. Well i double check everything, making sure the wires are connected correctly and i plug in my last fuse that connects everything to the battery. When i go back, i ask my brother if the PSU is lighting up. It was but its 2 green blinks.... Oh great. I checked the opus manual and the possible reasons for this are
1. Check the wiring of the power switch and check to see if they are switched.
2. Check ATX Mother board bios settings
3. locked up motherboard or software crash of bug
4. faulty power supply

Now before i go any farther, i have only the bare nessesities running, no controllers no GPS, nothing but the bare minimum. I also dont think that #1 is the problem. I checked this like more than 10 times. Now when i tested it, it was around 1130, and i have to get up tomorrow for work at 6. I havent started troubleshooting, but i was wondering if anyone has any ideas for me to try so when i get off work and school tomorrow, i can check this post out and start working..

If someone could please lead me in the right direction your help would be greatly appreciated.

Shuluke

I will post more on my carputer once and if i get it running..

I did that as well. It keeps blinking twice even with the car off.

All i have connected is the hard drive. What will unpluging that do?

Shuluke?

I didnt set the bios for whatever is wanted in the opus manual. Do i have to set that? i just want it to turn on and off, no hibernating.

My bad silencery,

You were right. I switched the power switch, and after waiting a few seconds, it booted right up. I think i was in a hurry last night, and i didnt wait. Thanks alot, now when i get my digital camera back, i will take pictures and explain more.

Shuluke

Thanks again!

Glad I'm not the only one that wasted my time with this stupid problem. It's the most obvious reason too... says it right in the manual.

cool =) glad you got it sorted. I bet everyone makes that mistake.. hehe

I thought it might have been the HD the second time cuz when i hooked mine up, I had the same issue. Turns out it wasn't the power plug for me, but rather the HDD adapter wasn't aligned properly, causing a bad connection.

Happy carputing.
