will a more powerful battery help?

Ok, I just got myself an opus (anyone looking in the general hardware secion have heard some of this), anyway, having installed it I had some problems...

Firstly the system would never complete booting, first time it got into windows and then froze, then it wouldn't even get into the windows startup screen. Now, as I was just trying to test the new opus I didn't bother starting the car.

Anyway, I decided to take the car for a drive and try powering it up, and it worked. However, while I was driving the system froze again (as it did when I didn't have the car powered). The system also froze one time just after I switched the car off (opus was waiting the 10 seconds before entering the shutdown sequence.

So, I belive the system isn't receiving enough power. My question is will a bigger battery make any difference? My car is a Toyota Echo (2003) and the battery is VERY small (there are no specs for RC or CCA on the battery).

I wouldn't ask this question if the system hadn't frozen while I was driving as I would have assumed the alternator would be providing more than enough juice, but obviously something wasn't quite right.

Sorry for the long message, hope someone takes the time to read it.

batt to earth
alt to batt positive

the opus is connected to the battery on the positive line through 8 gauge and some 12 gauge (from a distribution block to the opus), and the opus is grounded through the same method. I have tried connecting the opus directly to the 8 gauge but it didn't help. My carpc is under the drivers seat so the cable aren't that long.
