You can get a shutdown controller for it from the mp3car.com shop

I don't think it's stupid.
Although I am curious as to why you wouldn't want the convenience.

maybe you should consider what im doing....

take the power antenna wire from your head unit and put it into a relay to power the inverter...so the carputer will be on as long as your stereo is powered up

OK just so we are talking on the same wavelength I didn't mean shutdown controller as in Opus,Carnetix etc - I understand you want an invertor, I meant shutdown controller for the invertor. You may have already understood what I meant, so if you did, smashing.

The circuit above is a good idea... Also you could just hook up a switch/relay combination to give power to the invertor and of course to make sure that your not running all that juice through a switch, if that worries you.

I have been running mine in this configuration (switch located under my dash on 12v line before it gets to the inverter and the inverter power switch left in the on position) for a couple of years now and have had no problems. I wired it up to my accessory line so even if I froget to turn off the inverter with the switch it will still shut off when I shut off the car. Unfortunatly this has lead me to power off the pc without shutting it down leading to a long boot the next trip. To solve this I broke down and ordered a shutdown controller...cant wait till it arrives.

Hope this helps.

If they don't want it, they don't want it. There's no telling some people
