give hibernate a try again.
standby requires constant power to keep the ram powered so you don't loose any data. hibernation writes what's in RAM to the hard disk so you can completely remove power.
i'm thinking 1 of 2 things are happening.
1. it's possible you don't have the 1260 or m1-atx set up properly, and they are cutting power to the PC a few minutes after you turn the car off. thereby killing power to the ram, thereby loosing your data, thereby causing the pc to reboot when it can't pull itself out of standby.
2. if the 1260 and/or m1-atx ARE configured to operate in standby and keep power to the PC ... there's a good change 4 hours of supplying power to your PC is draining your batter enough that when you crank it after 4 hours it dips below 7.5v.
Either way, Hibernate (or full shutdown) should solve both of these problems and is a good bit cheaper than a new battery.
