4 PSU Carputer still running strong!

Just an update since its been a few months now. The P4 is still running great. The Opus 150 is the master and powers the MB, and triggers the two Carnetix PSUs to turn on. One of the Carnetix PSUs powers the 12V peripherals inside the case (HDD 12V and CDRW 12V) and the three case fans. Another Carnetix feeding a PW-70A powers the external peripherals (USB hub, screen, front 3.5" DVD drive). This was all done to keep as much of the power available on the 12V line free for the P4. I also run 128MB video, Audigy, and PCI USB.

Thats an awesome way to do things.

Was there a particular reason you didn't want to run an inverter? My inverter setup works great, but I'm sure it isn't the most efficient thing in the world.

What was the point of the p4 and having such a power hungry system in your car?

Its been a while now but I think I just tapped off the 12V output from the Opus to the accessory turn-on input of the Carnetix. I built the carputer like this before I knew power was so much of an issue or that the P4 was any different than a P3, and so I could play games etc. Its more of a weekend/show car.

I was more sensible with the carputer in the truck and its getting an inverter just so I can try that method too.

Altimat dont you get a delay from the time the opus goes on (sends 12v "acc" to carnetix to turn on) until the time the carnetix actually powers HDD and stuff?

Cheers!
