Resuming from s3 or s4 i have to unplug PSU and Re plug
Hello,
Its been a while since a posted a problem but since the upgrade to the Opus 150 and Insight p4-ITX i have been having a problem.
It goes like this. While up and running I go to hibernate (by the iginition switch (turning the car off)) Windows sucessuffuly hibernates fine and the computer turns off. Only standby power is left on.
I wait 30 seconds and turn the car on (this turns the computer on) The fans turn on and opus green light turns on, apparently there is power going to the mainboard but i get no VGA signal and the monitor turns off. It never gets to posting.
It does this for STR and STD
Anyone have any ideas

If you remember from the N Cal meet, I had the same problem except I have VIA mobo and M1-ATX and this happens to me even from cold starts, but not all the time. I guess the problem is NOT in the mobo or the PSU but in the wiring or power from the car. I am ripping the positive and negative wires off my system this weekend and replacing them with much shorter an thicker wires to see if it helps...

well I feel better that i'm not alone in this, i'm having the same problem. Mine works fine in hibernation, but with standby when I turn the key off the computer goes into standby just fine, when I turn the car back on everything turns back on but I get no video. I have the same thing, insight P4 and opus 150. I have tried swapping the power switch wires from the opus, when I swap them I get the double flash for a error starting the mobo.
Just doesnt make any sense because it will go into and out of hibernation just fine, it's only a problem with standby. The only thing I forgot to try was there is a option in the bios to repost the vga bios on resume. I had that disabled on my asus board with no problems, but maybe the insight doesnt like it being disabled.
I know mine is not a power problem because I just pulled a asus P4P800 out that was working fine in standby.

Yea i am beginning to think that it is not a power thing either.
I think it has more to do with the main board, and i cant find any support or new bios online.
JD You said that it is working fine with hibernate?? Meaning that it resumes normally?
Thats actually the goal that i am trying to reach.
Maybe we could troubleshoot this together since we have exact same setups
I did change the VGA bios on resume to all Auto/On/Off and it still didn't make a difference.
If you want to chat JD i am online.
On a side note the Insight board does leave the USB powered when in hybernate or standby. Also i notices in standby mode all the fans are still powered, do you notice that?

I tried some more tweaking with the bios. i set the bios to S3 under the power management section, when i did the standby the fans turned off and everything like you said and when it returned from standy i got the blank screen... never came back.
Hibernation still does the same thing. Unfortunatly i don't have p4 AC power supply that i can rule out the Opus with.
ANy word on your bios version. mine is 1.00
Let me know.
thanks

I remember you. You had the cool rear view camera. I think it is the motherboard. What motherboard do you use?

Mine is Via EPIA-V, 1.0G - As soon as I get my hands on some extra $$ I will upgrade to MII or simillar which hopefully will be faster and less troublesome! If it is the motherboard then that should solve my problem!

well it turns out to be a power issue. The opus apparently didn't like the p4 system, 2 screens, 2.5 hard disk, slim slotload CDRW, and 8 USB devices
When i unplugged the 4 port powered USB hub everything worked like a charm

I have found that some USB devices and some video display drivers do not like hibernation, or sometimes standby.
(it is all about the drivers)

I'm having a similar problem now, When I resume (S3, everything turned off in the BIOS) I get no vga signal, but when I come from hibernate or power off, VGA works fine. I've got a Via M10K and an m1-atx. It worked last week, and the only things I have changed:
- Attached USB GPS mouse
- Changed power connector on Lilliput, this used to be quick-connects, now it's a molex-type thing. Note that I didn't change the wiring or the source of the Lilli's power (m1-atx).
- Changed power connector to the m1-atx, this used to be quick-connects, now it's a molex type thing.
Any ideas?
