power inverter power supply shutdown problem

Hello I have a LV-670M motherboard running a 1.7 GHz Mobile pentium .I'm having trouble with the power supply. Originally I had an OPUS 150W power supply. However the PC always shut down once windows had loaded up so I ended up getting rid of it and anyway prefferred to have the pc on a normal power switch so I could be the one rather than the car that decided when it turned on and also liked having the option of moving the pc into the house when needed. I now have an enermax 230w micro-atx power supply running off a 300W Nikkai power inverter. First time it loaded up but again as windows started it shut down. Whats happening ? The pc works fine when its run off the mains ? The inverter works fine for other equipment ! Now the pc won't power on at all and the inverter just clicks. Hells bells I can't figure out this elctricity stuff

can anyone help

Surely it could manage 230 watts !! I ran a 600watt drill fromt the power inverter and it seemed to work without problems ? How can I check whether the batteries giving enough power. If it is the battery whats the solution ?

The easy way to test this is to plug in the compute rinside and see that it powers up and boots into Windows.
You may be having an issue with the Windows install or a failing piece of hardware that's causing Windoze to shutdown before it fully boots.

Sounds wierd... it was doing this before with the Opus, too? Hmmmmm.... I would blame the power inverter (maybe heat problems), but it has to be something on your motherboard.... try clearing the CMOS, maybe that'll help.

yes, it used to do it with the opus but at that time the opus was wired directly to the battery (no inverter).now its still doing it and no opus just the inverter
i wonder if its the motherboard, doesn't seem to make a lot of sense because it runs fine off the mains.whats going on !!!!

alternator is not pushing enough power to keep up with either the opus or the inverter. Also check your battery. I had the same problem. You need to get both a better alternator and battery.

been scouting around trying to find the appropriate replacement battery. Difficult so have emailed some battery suppliers. My current battery is 60 amps in a Nov 2002 VW Passat. I've also got a 700W Base tube, 2 X 100W front speakers and 2 x 50 w rear speakers. What size new battery would i require do you think ? Also is it really worth changing the inverter to a pure sine inverter ?
