keypower wiring questions!
After reading positive reviews here, I have splashed out and bought the KP-DX 250H ATX 250W Keypower power supply.
... some questions...
1. There are 3 connectors on the back of it... (+) (-) and (G). I presume I ground it from the (-). But what is (G)? Is that ground? Anyone know?
2. For the DC power wires I am choosing between these... http://marketplace.xtra.co.nz/cgi-bi...ogs/CTG0000444
Please help! I spent my life savings on this thing and dont't wanna screw it up!
Thanks.
AndyM

I connected my "G" to ground of my car. When I open the PS, I realized that the "G" wire just goes to the housing of the PS. My ps is mounted to the car with a metal brakets any way so it wouldn't matter is I use the "G" terminal or not. I ran it without hooking the "G" and it worked fine. I also hook it up and it did'nt make any difference. I also siliconed all of the heavy parts(coils, heat sinks, etc.) so it doesn't come of the board. I don't think this is necessary but I just wanted to make sure nothing gets lose with vibration. Caution-voids you warranty if you open it up!

Just a little comment on member numbers:
In the earlier numbered members, you have to look at the date. When the forum was upgraded at some point, the numbering appears to have been redone alphabetically. For instance, I'm sure Moon was the first member, but his number is 132. He was registered in Jul 99 though, before others with lower numbers.
Sam, you will need to upload that picture to a web server before you can display it. The users of this forum do not have access to your hard disk (hopefully). Let me know if you need somewhere to upload to and I'll hook you up.

Cool... thanks Sam and Pinky for the help
I must have just about set a record for the slowest built car mp3 player in history! But don't worry its going to be well worth the wait. Considering my minimal experience in the required fields (car audio, computer hardware and configuration, electronics, fabrication etc) I don't think I am doing half bad... and hey... I haven't set fire to anything yet
Thanks again

I think I'm in that race, too... I've been collecting parts, specifically for this project, for over a year...!

yes, you're correct gregulator. Just ground both the (-) and (G) terminal to battery ground. I used 8 gauge wires for positive and negative, but I think you should be o.k. with 10 or 12 gauge. I can run my system with a 15Amp fuse with no problem. I guess this depends on you system.
