extending my TS's ac adapter wire

This may seem like a dumb but simple question. I need to extend the wire for my ac adapter that goes from my inverter to my touch screen. I pretty much need to extend it by another 6 feet. Would it be ok to just cut the wire in the middle, then use one of those wire taps to tap some extra wire from the positive wire and then tap some extra wire from the negative wire? Not too sure if this would be safe. Is there some kind of extension cable available that might be safer to use instead of splicing the wiring and tapping into it? Thanks in advance!

i don't know of any extension cable for the plug. you could use a standard AC extension cable at the inverter, or cut the wire and add 6 feet.

if you cut it,
unplug it before you start
just make sure you use a splice wire equal to or larger in diameter than the original wire
make sure you connect the correct wires, not pos to neg
make sure you solder/connect the wires well
wrap up the exposed wire with electrical tape
