One thing I did notice, and I hope it means something to someone, is that after I forced the mobo to boot (using the reset trick), I let the M2 shutdown the pc and as soon as it was off I simulated the "ignition on" and carputer booted right back up. Did this several times and it worked perfectly every time. Then I waited an additional 10 seconds before stating it back up and now it would not post. Tried it again and it boots everytime when there is just a few seconds gap between shutdown and start, but it will not post if that few seconds is more than 10. Does this make sense to anyone?
In all fairness, I am convinced the M2 is good in my case and there is something wrong with my mobo. And the fact that all of these problems started when I switched from Morex 60 watt to a M1 (and then a M2) was just a coincindence.
I just thought of something. I had a desktop once that had a simillar problem. It was working fine until i decided to upgrade my RAM. Now everytime i push the power button, the LED & fan goes on, but the Mobo doesn't post. I have to press the reset switch a couple of times before it goes fine.
Did you try changing your RAM modules.

Now that you mention it, the system is acting like there's no ram plugged in with the m2-atx. That still doesn't explain though why my system works fine with a cheap 90 watter or the DSATX, which is by no means cheap ... but has these symptoms with the M2.

Did not change them with a new one, but my carputer has two 256 meg modules which I took them both out and then tried them one at a time and still nothing.
Just got the carputer out of the car again because now the sound is choppy and music speed is slow at first and then becomes normal, as if hard drive spins slower at first! I don't even know if that is possible. Must have messed something up last time I had it apart but anyway, that is a different topic for another thread. . Once I fix the sound issue I will put in RAM modules from a working desktop I have to see if it makes a difference.

I tried swapping the RAM from 512 No Name to 1GB Corsair without any different results (already tried switching the power supply to mobo connector without success)...
I received a note back from ituner (Andrei) and they are sending me a 'modified' unit to try. I've got to say I'm impressed with their willingness to help and even send a modified unit!

My m2-atx issue isn't with the start-up, it's seems to fail when sending the shutdown signal. I read in another post that it may be due to a too short of signal being sent (3ms vs 20ms). I have a pretty standard setup: SP13000 & Windows XP. The only thing different is that I wired up a momentary switch to the J9 jumper (optional external on/off).
After shutting my car off, I waited for about 10 minutes and it never tried to shutdown. I have it set to a 2 hour 'Hard off.' For the meantime, I have to shut it down manually every time I leave my car. What are my options and/or any suggestions on a fix?

Try mounting the wires on J8, if that doesn't work then reverse the polarity of the wires.

Just curious....does anyone know if MP3car is selling the "new and improved" M2-ATX (the one that supposedly fixes the timing issue)? I sent them an email last week, but got no response.

Just an update from me. The 3 M2's I tried all had problems. I just got an Opus 150 and it works fine from the very first try. What a relief.

UPdate on my M2-ATX + SP13000 problem:
Andrei from iTuner sent out a modified M2, and it seems to be working flawlessly. I have tried booting up twice, and it is operating as expected. I have not let it run for a longer duration, but will be testing it over the next few days.
Just wanted to say that it is looking promising, and thanks again Andrei for your support thus far

Do you know what the nature of the modifications to the M2 are to make it work with the SP13000? Can existing units be modified?
I am having the same problem.

Check to make sure your BIOS is not set for a 4 second shutdown.
