Another M2 ATX Problem

So I'm almost done my whole carpc setup, I've got my pc built, all my wires run and I'm ready to test everything out. I plug everything in, turn on the car, and I get nothing. I know the pc works, I've tested it with a regular power supply. Pull out the volt meter, check all my lines, everything looks ok. Here's the weird part, if i take the wire off that connects to the motherboards on/off switch and manually jump that switch while the car is on and everything plugged in, the computer boots up just fine. I've tried connecting that little wire in every combination that it can be connected but it will just not start the computer. Right now I have my pc setup that I just hit the power button to start the pc, and when I'm ready to get out of my car, I hit the power button again to shut it down completely, but I'd rather not do that. Can anyone give me any suggestions on what to check to see why that line isn't starting the pc?

Did you configure the jumpers correctly?

It does sound like a jumper setting or lack off as stated above. If you have no jumpers set at all then the M2 will just act as a standard PSU and you will need to manually press the MB power button or J9 on the M2.

For testing i suggest you put 1 jumper on pin a.

It sounds like you have alrady but just incase check that you have a correct 12v on the white wire when you switch the ign on.

I had the exact same problem but it was a brain fart on my part. When i looked at the instructions for the M2-ATX it looked like there was a jumper on A C and D. It was supposed to be just a jumper on B. I put the jumper on B and it fired right up and shut down on its own.

I will recheck the voltage coming in from the ignition wire again tonight. One other question, if I leave it as it's currently hooked up where I have to manually turn the computer on, does the M2 still monitor the battery levels and whatnot? I know it won't be able to do a hard shutdown of the pc since it really already is, but will it still do it's other monitoring? Also, what kind of voltage should I be seeing from the wire that goes from the jumper to the jumper on the motherboard? A small spike when the car is turned on and then back to normal, or a straight 12v when the car is turned on?

matt, read the manual/pamplet. There are 4 jumpers you need to set that control the on/off delays and mode it is in (manual on, etc.)

4 jumpers? Well, color me surprised, i thought there was just the one that controller the soft/hard shutdown..i will have to reread the little manual then.

matt, did you find a solution to your problem, I am having the exact same problem... Also, are you using only the +12V from the M2-ATX (I am using a single board computer that has on-board voltage regulation so I just need the +12V not the 5V & 3.3V). I did look at the PIC code and it seems that the turn on pulse is being sent before the +12V line fully powers up.

I won't get a chance to take a closer look at the problem until tomorrow. I'll update if I find something.
