Squeezer

Hi,

The ATX AC to DC (same on in a PC computer, i power mine by an inverter) won't power up. I don't know if my motherboard, CPU, or power supply is dead because I don't have a spare of any to swap out. I suspect the power supply because it is an inexpensive one. I have a multimeter, so I was wondering if there is any way I can test it to see if it is good or dead? I opened it up and there is no fuse inside the power supply to check, either.

i think you can take a wire and jump the connection between the green wire and any black wire. that is the turn on signal that will power up your supply. then if you have a multimeter you can test the voltages or you can hook up a fan or a HD or anything.

Thanks, I tried jumping it with a piece of wire and nothing happened.

I took my multimeter and read the voltage and ampheres from the green wire to the black wires, and it reads 1.844 VDC on it and 1035 micro amps.

Does that help any?

Squeezer

After digging around my house, I found another ATX Power Supply I didn't remember having. I crossed green with ground and the fan spun up on it. So I replaced it with the dead one in my car, and all is good again. Thanks!
