I would like to buy one too. I don't know how to solder or program a chip.

I've been watching this thread for awhile.
I would be VERY interested in this in a kit.
The components and instructions would be good enough.
Soldering a board is not a problem for me (aviation technician) but I'm afraid programming a chip is a bit out of my abilities.
Just out of curiosity, how much do you have invested in this unit in parts?
I'm considering a DSSC, how would this compare?
Cheers
BJ

I'm at about 110.00 so far and still need to buy a programmer and a 20 MHz crystal..... But I was stupid and bought most of the parts at RadioShack.... I like that store but they are way to expensive.....Plus I bought a more expensive LCD then I needed....

Ok fellas, I didn't really anticipate the desire for this, so once I built my own functional circuit, I put the SSC project away. I've helped others developed their own and answered questions. I have rejuvenated my vigor for developing this board. I know Optczr had worked hard to make a PCB for his and he has done a fine job. To no discredit to his work, I have designed a PCB myself which incorporates USB support, and an RGB LED port so one can control ambient light color in their car or even an undercarriage light system. This will all be selectable with the LCD menu and ultimately I am coding a windows interface for all of this to be controlled directly from your touchscreen. I'm also placing a small breadboard matrix of empty pads for add on components. As said before, the code is not perfect, so I will work to finalize the firmware code so it can be sent out as a kit or even a finished board. Give me a month or so though guys, I'm a single father, and my little one requires a lot of attention. I'll get it ready for you guys though, it'll just be a minute or two.
I would like to get an idea for how many people like the RGB and USB idea. Let me know what you think.
Right now, the components for the proposed board are approximately $45 - $55. The basic board without the USB and RGB could be built for $35 - $45. (This is by finding components online) Radio Shack is sooooo expensive in comparison. (Convenient though). It doesn't hurt to scrounge for wires and some components.
I'll keep you all updated. Looks like a lot of late nights again.....

I know about the kid issue friend, single father of a 4 year old here (well, divorced).
55 bucks?
Brother, if you could bring a kit in at this price, I'd pay you in advance!
Even more so if you put the added support on (usb rgb).
You can put me first on the list.
Cheers
BJ

Hey BJ, HAHA mine's 4 too....and what an age!
Just to clear something up, that price range is an estimated cost to build for all of the components. I posted that in response to your earlier post.

USB Support meaning additional USB ports, or USB power, or... ?
Either way. It looks interesting, and depending on the price, it would be well worth it for the geek cool factor.

Hows 'bout $100 shipped sound?
Fair price for a kit?
The reason I'm asking is that I am considering a DSSC from Chris at the moment. If this is something that may show up in a month or two, I'm in! If not, I may have to go with the DSSC for now and save my beans for later.
This seems to have more of the "cool" factor!
Yup, what and age. She comes up with some pretty knock you flat things and questions sometimes. Sometimes I just don't know what to say! (she learned the word "vagina" from somewhere the other day , boy has that she been saying that at the wrong time lately. OH MY POOR HEART!)
Cheers

I'm glad to hear that your going to be providing kits (for sale) of your startup/shutdown controller and at a estimated price which no one can match. As for the board I made, it works great and the 7805 regulator only gets warm (not burn your skin off hot). The problem which I was having as been fixed, just had to make a few code changes and now I'm good to go.
So thanks again Luwe for all your help...

Since I have now completed my board and everything works, I do have some extra parts if anyone is interested. Items include two pics (programmed) and two boards, all resistors, transistors, 100pF caps, 22pF caps, diodes, 20 mhz crystals, pots, sockets and pins that you need to make two boards. The items which I don't have, relays, 7508's, power supply caps and the 16X2 display screen with ribbon cable. If you would like to have my extra items, simply pay exact shipping from my location to your location and what I paid for them, which is around 20 bucks. So I guess 20 bucks and shipping. Once they are gone they are gone. Luwe is the designer of this circuit and I will not produce them or sell them. So send me a private message if you are interested..
I will post a responce when they are gone. (All extra parts are gone, sorry).
