Question DSATX firmware bug?

When the DSATX is _first_ powered, but ACC is low, I measured a few voltages on the control lines. To keep things simple I observed that the ATX green wire has something like 0.6v and the motherboard power_on control line has 0v. I grounded the green wire to see if the DSATX would supply power, and it did not (as expected).

Now I turn ACC on to the DSATX, motherboard turns on and everything is good. I then turn ACC off and the DSATX starts the countdown timer. Once the timer expires, the motherboard turns off. I measured the same locations and found 5v at the ATX green wire, and 3.8v on the motherboard power_on control line. I again grouned the green wire, but this time the DSATX supplied power on all lines (observed fans being powered and power on all lines). I would have expected the DSATX to be in the exact same state as when I first gave it power, that is that grounding the green wire would have resulted in nothing happening.

Is this indeed a firmware problem? Or am I missing something here. It would seem to me, with the above observations, that the DSATX is wasting power after the computer has been turned off. And I am concerned about having it in the car in such a state.

You should probably try loading the defaults and seeing if that helps any. From the Serial Port terminal, type an E and y for yes to enable writing, then type a D for load defaults, then a y for yes.

I think the PSU is still on standby mode. It has not pass the state of complete shutdown yet.

Ok so I reset to defaults and then retested.... and it worked as expected, no more difference in state as observed previously. I then re-programmed to not use pots etc and retested. Worked ok again.

Very odd how it got into such a state as before. Anyways thanks!

Still the same problems...

So not long after I last posted I put my car away for the winter, and put the project on hold. This week I got my stuff back out to finish up the project and I'm running into the same sorts of problems with this DSATX power supply. My PC won't boot with the brainstem and serial cable hooked up for diagnostics. What happens is it tries to boot several times and shuts down immediately. The diagnostic output I get is basically garbage (see below). When I try to boot up without the brainstem it works but every few minutes the powersupply sends a signal to turn off the PC. I reset the DSATX to defaults and it still doesn't work. I've had problems from day one with this power supply... what's wrong?

So I tried again to program the DSATX tonight and it won't even let me program it. I can enable writing and load defaults, but when I type "p" to program, it won't go into program mode all the time. Also, the diagnostic output stops randomly after 10secs +- some time, and typing "F" doesn't restart the output.

Something is wrong with your DSATX. It doesn't have the known firmware bug, you'll have to send it back to me and I'll fix it.
