battery dies eventhough I have a DSATX

I wanted to know if other ppl have had this problem...My car was fine for a little while when I first installed my DSATX power supply but now the car will work for a couple of days then die...If I drive it everyday then its fine but if it stays parked for 3 days or more then the battery dies...this computer thing is starting to get so freaking frustrating because nothing seems to just work smoothly...If anyone has experienced this problem please let me know how you fixed it...Oh BTW the screen is also wired into the power supply so that shouldnt be an issue...

thanks

Well if you have that little car in your avatar, then the alternator is probably pretty small. With a power hungry system like you have in your sig, you are barely charging your battery so it is driveable but not "full" if you do short trips.

Now, when you turn off the computer completely, it still draws power to some devices. USB devices are notorious because computers supply 5vsb, (standby), meaning even when off, these have power. Plug in something with a light. Preferrably 2 lights, 1 for on 1 for off. Example would be some sound card that whenever it is plugged in it is red. But when the PC starts, it turns blue. Always has power.

Also if you are using standby, this will eat away your battery pretty fast too. And all PSU's take a bit of power constantly because they have logic on them to wait for the 12v ign wire, and that logic takes power.

Also (Also is a good word...) now it is winter time, batteries are not as good, and if you have a regular battery this constant whoopsie draining makes the battery crap and it will drain faster next time. It seems as if this has happened quite often for you. Get a YellowTop or other deepcycle/marine battery.

Other possiblities as well, but these are the most common.

The DSATX cuts the power to the +5VSB, then draws 3mA.

Unless:
Are you modifying any of the settings, IE Turning off Sleep, or Enable5VSBOFF, etc.

Do you have a brainstem serial adapter plugged in all the time to the DSATX?

Are there other things powered off the 12 volts from the battery like a radio?

Any LEDs still on anywhere in your system when it goes to sleep?

I do have a complete stereo system in the car...Two amps, two caps, headunit, etc. I havent modified the settings or have a brainstem installed...I took the main fuse out from the computer system to see if thats the problem...so lemme test it for a few days and I will get back to you...And I do have the yellow top installed under the hood so its not a cheap battery...

thanks for the advise
