I recived my voom with an m2 atx supply pre-built from cartft.
When i opened it up to check everything was correct,i noticed they had put the white on J1 and red on J3.
I presumed the red should be always live and white should be igniton on.
And the manual backsup my presumption.
So J1 should be red and J3 should be white.
I contacted cartft and they replied saying they have wired it correct and white is J1 and red is J3.

Should i just connect the white to the battery and red to ignition?
I would have just switched them on the board but they are really stiff and i cant be bothered.

J1 goes to perminant live.
J3 goes to ignition live.

the cable colours you use for making these connections are your choice.

yes i'd have imagined the colours to be the other way round too, and personally i'd have probably swapped them round without much of a thought as it would make more sense to me, and i'd be far less likely to wire them up the wrong way round a week later after a long days work when i wasnt thinking properly and a bit tired...



just dont fall into the trap of always thinking red is 12v live, or that black is always ground.

as far as computers are concerned, most often red = 5v live

as far as a lot of factory car wiring is concerned, black = live, and brown is ground...

how thick must the ground cable be ? I want to use a 6 mm wire is that enough?

The ground cable should be at least as thick as the power (constant +12v) cable.

And those size diameters are for the copper itself, not copper and insolation. FOr instance I have 4awg wire which is about 5mm thick on the copper side, and about 1cm thick total.

For the M2, 10awg to 8awg is the standard size. Thicker is always better. I used a bigger cable because I like the option of upgrading. One day I might want a DS-ATX, so instead of having to switch out the power supply and rerun a thicker cable, I just will have to switch the ps and be done with it.

And in case you havent picked it up yet, the lower the number for awg, the thicker the cable.

4awg is thicker than 8awg which is thicker than 20awg.

And make sure you are running your power cable to the battery. If you dont you will be sorry.

Hi thanks for your quick answer, if you check my pics you can see the power connector cable i am using, its a very thick one seperate from the rest of the car power, can i just ask you one more question.

Can i use the 12 v + GND from the orginal radio to power my xenarc 700 TSV ?

Yes it should be sufficient to power your xenarc. And the xenarc has internal voltage regulation, so it is a firect connect!

And what pictures? I just see the M2=ATX layout diagram...
