Carnetix p2140 Installation Question

I need help hooking up my Carnetix p2140 to my computer. What wire do I connect to the power button so the shutdown controller will work. I read through the instructions over and over but I am still a little confused.
THe red black and brown wires are self explanitory but the green white and blue wires are a little confusing on what they get used for. The blue says delay on and on for accessories, got it for amp. But the Green says ACPI - Not sure where this gets connected to? White says ACPI + again confused?
Just need a little help with connecting this to my computer.
Thanks in advance.

Never mind after a little research and a little risk I fuigured it out. The ACPI wires refer to the power button on control. Hook them up right and you have no problem. Green and White connected to your computers power button.
I soldered wires on to the power button on the mother board
THen hooked up the 12v outs from the psu to the power cord 12vin. Connected the Grounds to the grounds on the power cord and voila. Here it is.
Here is a screenie of the PSUMON software while hooked to the computer.

The computer specs are
Pentium 4 2.6ghz
1gb Ram
40gb Hard drive
DVD / CDRW Combo Drive
I saw the amps peak at about 8amps when booting other than that they havent gotten above 5amps while running with a load (playing mp3, video)

I wired the computer cable as described below.
On the PSU Wire both Primary 12vouts together and both Ground Together.
Cut the cable in half between the power brick and the connector.
Solder the leads you’ve just cut to the ends of that like this:
Red (12vin CPU) to Red (12vout PSU)
Brown (12vin CPU) to Red (12vout PSU)
Black (Ground CPU) to Black (Ground PSU)
White (Ground CPU)to Black (Ground PSU)
Also, solder the screen (Wire Mesh Ground) to black.
Fold the Green and Yellow wires back against the cable and tape them up.
Tape each join up individually, then tape the whole lot together.

4 wire Plug

Black - Ground ( both wires )
Blue - Pulse Start Input ( uses a 3V-12V to turn on power supply by switch )
Red - +12V Battery Input ( both wires )
Yellow - Ignition/ACC input ( remote turn on ( it starts the power supply ))

6 wire plug

Red - Primary Output 1
Black - Ground 1
White - ACPI-/iSense Dual function, depends on jumper setting
Blue - DLYON Out
Red - Primary Output 2
Black - Ground 2
Brown* - Secondary Output
Green - ACPI+

both Red are power 12 Volt all the time.
both Black are power ground all the time.

Blue - to a amp ( remote on wire )

Brown - 2nd power out put.

Green - ( + ) computer turn on
White - ( - ) computer turn on

You need to have at least one Red wire , one Black wire, & Yellow Wire to make it start up.

here is the manual
P2140 manual

If you need any other help with it let me know.

question about this all before i buy a 2140....
do the startup shutdown controllers work with the 260, or do you have to manually do it even with the 2140....
gracias again

It works great with the SX260 and SX 270 series computers. You will have to solder two wires underneath the power button but other than that it is a very easy install.

I would love for one of you guys to try the new firmware (V1.8.X) and let me know if you can start/stop the PC via the USB port instead of soldering wires to your power switch.

Also, FYI, we sell a couple of power cables that *may* be able to save you from hacking your AC adapter power cable.

This is the CNX-CA-XSC8 which has a 4-pin "Kycon" connector. It was designed for the Xenarc SC8 but may also fit the SX260.

Or, this is a stand-alone connector that you can manually wire to the pigtail J2 cable that ships with the P2140.

Hope this helps!

I dont think those cables will work Here is a pic of the connector for the power cord to the PC. It is a square six connector plug. And as far as USB goes for turning it on, I dont know how that would work either. The computer would have to be in standby mode to sense it. I think anyway.
But for sure the power cord you pictured will not work. Dell did there home work when selecting a power option that would limit you to there specific power cord.

Bummer....leave it to Dell.

You are correct. The current version of firmware/software puts the laptop in Standby. However, the current drain is very low if the battery is nearly/fully charged. We've been doing this with Mac minis for quite some time with no apparent battery drain issues. We are, however, working on a scheme for Hibernation which may be an even lower power drain.

If you do feel like making us a connector.....

also, the bios doesn't support wake from USB
so pretty much, this post is just to show you the connector since thunder already said this

when i get the 2140 in the mail, ill try it out tho and see how the "into standby" works and goes on my battery

I'd love to, but my chances of getting these connectors from Dell is, well,....not good

The "into Standby" will work fine since it uses the Microsoft .NET framework commands, which are running when you run the PSUmoni application. However, if your bios doesn't support wake from USB then you may be forced to use the hardware ACPI interface (ie soldering wires to your power switch), which is what we'd like to avoid. Is there any chance that a BIOS update would add this capability?

These are great computers for carputer, so getting an adapter to work from the p2140 and being able to sell it through mp3car would be a great idea as far as marketing the p2140. They can be had for about $250.00 on ebay and sport a ton of good features. Laptop hard drive, power cpu, slim type dvd drive, external power supply, dual big fans (great for in car).
Really though soldering the power button may be the only option. Unless you can make it work with the wake on lan. Going in to standby shoudlnt be to bad as long as you are using a second battery and a battery isolator. This would allow you to use the USB shutdown and startup option efficiently.
