P1900 V2.2 and Mac Mini Questions...

I emailed Carnetix and have not got a response yet and curious about a few things... here is what I wrote:

1) On the input pigtail there are two (2) ground leads and two (2) +12V
constant leads. Can I tie one of each of these back and isolate them? I
assume I only need to connect one of each along with the ignition line...
or can i ground both grounds and supply both red lines with +12V... Let me
know what to do here.

2) I am ordering a MacPac cable as well (on backorder) - So am intending
to use that instead of the supplied output pigtail. Now I have set my
jumpers for having a +12V output for both my secondary out and the DLYON
connection...

I will be using the P1900 to power both my Mac Mini and my Dynamix 816
8.6" touch screen (which until I receive assume it runs on a +12V supply -
I can change this if it is different). I am not sure what supply to
connect this to... the DYLON (Pin 4) or the Secondary Connection (Pin 7).

My thoughts were to supply my Audio Amplifer with the DYLON and the LCD to the Secondary Out... Please advise me here.

Any one got any experience with these issues...

1. You can tie them back and isolate them. I'm not sure why they are there but I hooked up my Mini this way and it has worked just fine for a year and a half.

2. I'm reasonably sure you connect your touch screen to the secondary connection. The DLYON is simply a signal to your amplifier to turn on. You don't want to draw current to run a TS from it.

Yes, I still run the Mini. I work from my home now so I don't drive the car very often but when I visit our company's home office I take it on about a 600 mile round trip. Every 6 weeks or so.

My needs for a car PC have changed from daily driver to long distance cruiser. The Mini is an excellent machine for a car PC. Particularly the Intel boxes as you can try out both the Mac and PC sides.

Secondary is for LCD displays or USB hubs/Ext DVD"s, you have to set JP2 to 12v for LCD or 5V for ....
Make sure that you follow the instructions, otherwise you're gonna have issues with the power cycle:

While in Sleep Mode the Mac mini will wake up when any activity occurs on any connected USB devices. This includes powering or de-powering a externally-powered USB hub. This means that if you use the P1900 to power a USB hub that connects USB devices to your Mac mini, you will need to properly jumper the P1900 to turn power OFF to the USB hub BEFORE the Mac mini enters Sleep Mode. Otherwise, the act of de-powering the USB hub after the Mac mini been put in Sleep Mode will wake the Mac mini causing confusion with the P1900 SSC and potentially draining your battery.
THEREFORE, if you are using the P1900 to power your USB hub, make sure you set the P1900 jumper JP4 to DLYON position (see “Setting the Jumpers” section). See installation section for jumper locations.

The primary and secondary are separate and have nothing to do with each other, so it doesnt make a difference if you use it or not.

lol...hey twiggs, this is startacm from ebay. I sold you that dynamix screen. I thought it was kinda weird stumbling upon your thread...

Anyways, I was hoping maybe you could help me to set up my mac mini. I want to buy a mac mini from ebay, and what do I need to buy so that i can have a startup and shutdown controller going. I bought a dell car pc with a power controller already put in, but unfortunately the deal fell through. I changed my mind and decided that i wanted to buy a mac mini. I basically want it to startup when i turn on my car, and shut down when i turn off my car. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
