Alternative to Loitech mic

I ended up buying this mic at circuit city

http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Plant...oductDetail.do

its slightly cheaper than the logitech one (if you buy it at best buy that is)and it seems to have the same functionality, noise cancelling, mute button, etc.

I ended butchering up mine to "stealth" it onto my
A-pillar, its mostly all plastic just the top part has the actual mic and a very smal pcb for the mute switch.

WOW. I didnt know that logitech noise cancelling microphone worked so well. Just did a real simple test, had loud music playing in the backround and used my windows sound recorder to start recording. I started singing with the music for 10 seconds.

Stopped and played it back. Was amazed to only hear my voice, i didnt even hear a hint of the music in the backround...amazin.

Sweet! Can you do the same thing, but also cover up the vents on the back?

I got this . I just mounted it near my rear view mirror (with the supplied hardware) and it is perfect, except it does not have a mute button. If I run the A/C fan on high, I can hear it through the speakers and it is very annoying.

DON"T BUY A MIC WITHOUT THE MUTE BUTTON!

Huh? How the hell do you hear everything from the mic in the speakers?? That's not right.

BTW: Not that hard to make a mute button. Just cut one of the wires.

Air from upper vents hits the microphone (which also has a vent in its housing in the back) and creates a grawling sound (loud base) which can be heard through the speakers! I can minimize the sound by lowering the fan speed or turning the volume down to make it workable. I might have to mute something in the speech/sound of XP but have not figured it out yet.

GEt the latest drivers and check the settings. It sounds like you've got passthrough or something going on

I think Zebelkhan needs to disable the mic for playback in the sounds control panel.
