ok, so it sounds like that logitech wired desktop mic is tops, but what about a BT option like one of logitechs headsets? i guess putting on a headset to talk to the comp might get annoying in short rides, but is the noise cancelation really that great? i guess i'm just skeptable of what was said about the noise cancelation feature from logitech.

i'd love to hear about more mics, but i'll probably end up sticking one (wired logitech) in the review mirror anyways. then i don't have to do anything but talk. where do you guy's put the mute button? the steering wheel or the control panel?

It looks like logitech has a good BT headset. Try it out and report back

I'd wear it on my right ear.

Hi guys, I've been having the same problem with the mic! I knew that i could mute it from the sound control panel as i did but every time that Navivoice starts (like resuming hibernation) it unmutes the mic again and I also lowers the mic level to almost minimum. Every time i start the car I must mute the mic... This is really killing me!!! I am desperate please HEELLPPPPPPP. I was thinking it should be SAPI since Boris told me that his Navivoice has no command that affects the mic in his program. I also noticed that when i close Navivoice the mic setting return to the previous position before you start the program (i.e. mute and high). I checked in the voice settings in control panel but i could not find any thing relative...

Try this out with another program that uses speech recognition and see if it is the program or the SAPI. Centrafuse uses speech recognition. Load it up and try it out to see if the same thing happens.

I did! and it is SAPI. The thing is that SAPI dose not need the mic unmuted since when I mute it again everything works fine...! I have no idea of the internal working of SAPI now I an lost... Voice recognition is esential to my setup and I also get noice from the mic it its not muted since it has a long thin wire that goes all around my car and picks up noise from the electronis... Damn I can't imagine of any solution... maybe i should ask microsoft for SAPI in some dev forum. Any one has any idea???

I hate to do this for a senior member, but

Search for WebDog in the navivoice forum. He doesn't have a lot of posts here.

For the rest of the lazy: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...45&postcount=7

Doesn't really show much.. I was wanting more of an "installed" photo.

He did it with the usb version. Are there any differences in quality / functionality between the usb and the 1/8" jack version?

Ok...

I haven't use the USB version, so I can't really say. But I'm getting the USB version for my car, since I don't feel like running a tiny cable all the way back to the trunk. The quality differences probably won't be noticed, or won't be there at all. Its just doing analog -> digital conversion at a different point.

I asked this in the old thread, thanks to Rafster for pointing it out.

I have a mic in my BMW X5 for use with the BMW voice recognition. When I do a memo record my voice is very low. I would like to use the mic for the computer, maybe its just the VM that sucks. Or I guess I can change the mic to the logitech one and improve the VM as well as use it for the computer. My question is, is it a good idea to have one mic split in two going to two inputs?

Well, SAPI likes it to be quiet for some reason. So I guess your BMW mic would work well

My recent post in Hardware forum:

Quote:
I am using a BT Headset with a USB-BT Dongle with no problems. It acts like a sound-card with mic and speaker. If you have either or both of them as the preferred playback/recording device then the button on the Headset will switch your mic/sound between Sound-Card and Headset (because it connects/disconnects the device).

It is cool but I want more... I want:

1) A macro that will will run when the Headset connects/disconnects so that I have have it enable speech recognition to "dial" Google-Talk / Skype contacts and/or control my PC.

or 2) A program that allows the button to work just like it does with a BT Cell Phone (you can voice-dial, mute, answer/ignore/hangup). This solution may require different BlueTooth connection software than the one that came with my BlueTooth USB Dongle, different drivers for my USB Dongle, or possibly a different USB Dongle that supports this all together.

Does anyone have any more information on this topic? I've been searching Google but found nothing other than some Skype plug-in that is in beta and doesn't work with my hardware.

The easiest solution is to just be able to run a script (or Girder event plug-in) on connect/disconnect and I can do the rest with Girder and a speech plug-in... does anyone know how to do that?

Hey Ol33l... figure out how to make NaviVoice auto-detect when the current "preferred" recording device changes so it can auto-enable/disable speech detection. There is an MMSystem component that lets you easily see all the WindowsMixer settings. After you get that done, make all the INI/XML stuff for Google Talk. LOL... it's a good idea though .

BTW: With the speech plug-in for Girder... couldn't you basically replicate Navi-Voice's functionality with a Girder script file for iG?
